Pin Tumbler Cylinder
Provides higher protection against the lock being picked over a warded lock mechanism. The number of pins used is usually relative to the size of the lock however, security increases with the number of pins. A 5-pin cylinder is good security while a 6 pin cylinder is the highest security used in domestic padlocks and door locks. Federal padlock cylinders include anti pick mushroom pins for added security. Some padlock manufacturers use a maximum of 4 or 5 pin cylinders..
